Fishtallation is an intersection between where our food comes from within and beyond mass production. Cultures can be shared through food regardless of spoken language and fishing is a universally highly regarded livelihood. The practice is passed down from one generation onto the next in several regions worldwide. It is the most common hunt for the everyday person, inheriting knowledge of local history, an understanding of the circle of life and respect for the land. These conversations serve as an extra helping of fulfillment to identify ourselves further through what we consume.
The visual stimulation of fish triggered memories—nostalgic moments in time. Collected responses from the on-site activation ranged from meditation, graffiti, preservation, recipes, family vacations and traditions.

She stands over the fish, thinking about certain irrevocable mistakes she has made today. Now the fish has been cooked, and she is alone with it. The fish is for her - there is no one else in the house. But she has had a troubling day. How can she eat this fish, cooling on a slab of marble? And yet the fish too, motionless as it is, and dismantled from its bones, and fleeced of its silver skin, has never been so completely alone as it is now; violated in a final manner and regarded with a weary eye by this woman who has made the latest mistake of her day and done this to it.
